Biofuel Energy Corp.
|
By producing 230
million gallons per year of fuel grade ethanol and 720,000 tons of
distillers grains, Biofuel Energy Corporation (BFE) is quickly becoming
one of the leading ethanol producers in North America. With the continuous
support of VFT, BFE is able to easily accomplish their primary goal:
to become an emerging leader in the global production of ethanol. |
PTE v7.1 SP1 Upgrade: VFT strives to provide our customers
with quality and up-to-date services. Updating systems with the most
current software package ensures that current operations will continue
to run smoothly, and that future operations will be implemented quickly
and easily. This quality-improvement measure is just one way we provide
our clients with added value and utility. |
PTE Lakos Blowdown: Keeping CIP system equipment free
of unwanted solids is a small, but critical part of the ethanol-making
process. One that could mean the difference between an operational and
a non-operational plant. VFT is helping PTE run more efficiently by automating
the debris removal process, thus ensuring oparational continuity. |

BLE v7.1, SP1 Upgrade: VFT strives to
provide our customers with quality and
up-to-date services. Updating systems
with the most current software package ensures that current operations
will continue to run smoothly, and that future operations will be implemented
quickly and easily. This quality-improvement measure is just one way
we provide our clients with added value and utility. |
PTE Conveyor: In the ethanol-making process, the continuous
movement of materials is critically important. VFT is keeping PTE's operations
going forward by integrating new hardware into the existing DCS system. |
| |
BLE TRASAR: Good plants run. Great plants
run. The difference between the two? The ability to monitor and operate
all operational areas easily and from one centralized location. VFT is
affording BLE the ability to control more of their operations by incorporating
their 3D TRASAR unit, which controls cooling tower chemical additions,
into the existing DCS. VFT helps good plants achieve greatness. |
BLE Water Treatment Plant: Maintaining
a supply of quality water is not only vital in producing high-quality
ethanol, but it in remaining environmental compliant, as well. VFT designed,
delivered and implemented a full-DCS solution to meet both of these critical
needs, which allow this 110 MGPY site to remain in operational, with
minimal downtime. |

Cornhusker Energy |
Cornhusker Energy (CEL) is a privately-held
company dedicated to adding value to central Nebraska's corn production
by turning locally-grown corn into more than 40 million gallons of clean-burning
ethanol annually. CEL's committment to being a leader in Nebraska's ethanol
industry and to help meet the growing national demand for domestic biofuels,
is driving their production expansion to reach 150 million gallons per
year. VFT's committment to provide quality, timely automation will help
them succeed with ease. |

Silver Lake Water
Filter Plant |
The Silver Lake Water Filter Plant in
Mountain City, TN provides their local municipality with 13 million gallons
of good, clean water each year. Producing quality water is Silver Lake's
business. Making the production of quality water simple and efficient
is VFT's business. |
Phase 2: VFT is mirroring the DCS system
newly implemented during Phase 1 at the Silver Lake site, thus bringing
the total operational capacity to four clarifiers. Additionally, VFT
is adding telemetry technology, allowing monitoring and control capability
to devices previously unreachable due to remote locations. |
Phase 1: VFT outfitted Silver Lake with a Siemens DCS
system in this operational expansion phase during which two new clarifiers
and all corresponding field devices were added, mirroring the existing
setup. VFT was able to provide design and integration services; I/O panels;
DCS software and hardware; start-up support; and staff train-up, which
allowed operators to navigate the system easily and with confidence. |

| TERRA Grain Fuels, LLC. |
Terra Grain Fuels has completed construction
of its ethanol plant in the Rural Municipality of Pense No.160, near
Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan. The plant is now in the commissioning phase
and working towards it’s design capacity of approximately 150 million
litres of ethanol annually and 163,800 tonnes of dried distillers grains
annually. |
|
In the dehydration process, the molecular sieve removes
the remaining water from the ethanol based on different sizes of molecules.
The correct timing of the Molecular Sieves are imparative to the production
of ethanol. VFT provided Terra Grain Fuels with engineering services
to modify the Molecular Sieve timing. |
